Two employees with The First National Bank in Trinidad celebrated 20 years of employment with the Bank in January!

Diana Sanchez

Ms. Diana Sanchez was born and raised in Raton, New Mexico. She began her banking career in 1986 at Sunwest Bank, after graduating from Raton High School. She was hired as a loan secretary and later moved to positions of Credit Department and Loan Operations Manager, and after the acquisitions by Boatmen’s Bank, NationsBank and Bank of America, she had the role of Consumer and Commercial Loan Support Specialist. During her employment with Sunwest Bank, she took classes through the American Institute of Banking and received her General Banking, Consumer and Commercial Lending diplomas.

In January of 1999, she was hired by The First National Bank in Trinidad to be the Assistant Vice President and Assistant Branch Manager of The First National Loan/Deposit Production Office that was opening in Raton later that year, which would service Raton and all of Colfax County with loan and deposit products and opportunities. Ms. Sanchez was promoted to the position of Vice President and Branch Manager in 2001, which is the position she presently holds. Diana says, “It has been such a pleasure working for the Bank and helping customers realize their dreams in the community I grew up in. Most recently, I was given the opportunity by the Bank to attend The Graduate School of Banking in Colorado, from which I graduated in July 2018.”

Ms. Sanchez has one son, Jacob, who is a senior at Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio.   She has served as President of Raton MainStreet, Raton Arts and Humanities Council and she is on the City of Raton’s Economic Development Board. She enjoys volunteering her time to serve the community in various ways, helping to make it a better place for residents and visitors. Her other hobbies include spending time with family and friends, reading and traveling. A luncheon was held in her honor in Trinidad on Friday, February 1, 2019.

Jim VigilMr. Jim Vigil began his career in banking in 1990 when he started working for the First National Bank in Walsenburg. He worked there for over 8 years as a teller, proof operator and head bookkeeper before accepting a teller position with The Huerfano County Branch of The First National Bank in Trinidad in January 1999. Mr. Vigil later trained to work in the proof department, where he worked simultaneously as a teller. Four years later, he was offered the position of loan officer. He was later promoted to Assistant Vice President in February 2005, which is his current position. Jim has two children. His son Mark lives and works in Colorado City, and his daughter Tiffany is attending college in Denver. A dinner was held in his honor in Walsenburg on Friday, February 8, 2019.
