Pictures to Last a Lifetime

Chasing Fireflies Photography is a unique studio serving northern New Mexico and Southern Colorado. Its founder, Jennifer Sparaco, has a special flair for photojournalistic photography. What is photojournalistic photography? Jennifer likes to think of it as photography that captures who you are. "Say cheese!" are two words you will never hear from her mouth. Instead, she prefers to capture the personality of each client. "Perhaps your four year old is a dreamer. No sense in confining him or her to an unnatural smile on a 4x6 photograph. Why not create a photograph of your child dreaming of pirates and spaceships, of fairies and unicorns with that thoughtful, dreamy look you love so much? Those are the large prints my clients hang in their homes."

Photographs are a moment in time, a memory captured forever. Jennifer has an extraordinary ability to capture the most fleeting of moments, a look, an expression, a feeling. "I often look at old family photos, and wonder what that young face of my great-great-grandmother was thinking when she was my age and the entire world was before her." Capturing these special moments and memories is what Jennifer loves to offer her clients. "I offer collections for every special time in life. From a baby's first breath, an amazing moment to capture in my birth photography, to the wide-eyed excitement of a graduating senior, or a lifetime of love shared between a couple celebrating 50 years of marriage. I am honored to be a part of these memories that make up life." As an on-location photographer, several different options are available to clients. Jennifer knows newborns are most comfortable being photographed at home, seniors may want something more varied. Likewise, young engaged couples may prefer something more funky or edgy, such as photographs taken in our historic downtown alleyways. Recently, Chasing Fireflies Photography renovated a small studio space for occasions when something more simple or traditional is desired or for when the weather turns too cold or wet for outdoor shooting.

Jennifer also donates her time to a cause very close to her heart. "I am an affiliate photographer for the Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep Foundation. This foundation pairs professional photographers with parents of babies who will not make it home from the hospital." A photographer, at a family's request, will come to a hospital or hospice location and conduct a sensitive, private portrait session for the family and their precious baby. Often times the photographs offer comfort to parents and families during the healing process after such a tragic loss by honoring their child's memory. The services are completely free of charge and parents will receive a remembrance slide show and photographs from the session to use as they desire. If you know somebody who may be in need of such services, you can find out more by visiting the foundation's website at

Jennifer is a proud member of Professional Photographers of America and is continually furthering her training and education.
