 For the love of antiques!
That's the reason Raton native, Brenda Ferri, made a call to her sister-in-law,
Michelle Ferri, in January of this year telling her that The Heirloom Shop in historic
downtown Raton was for sale. The two had talked for many years about owning their
own antique shop. After that first phone call, things moved quickly and within three
weeks the pair became the proud new owners of The Heirloom Shop. The ladies purchased
the shop from the original owners, Hattie Sloan and Cathy Naylor, who had been in
business for 24 years.
Michelle Ferri is also owner of CRS Antiques and
Eclectic in Parker, Colorado. She keeps the business affairs in order while Brenda
Ferri appears regularly at the Shuler in local theatre productions. Both Michelle
and Brenda always have a smile and perhaps even a glass of lemonade for patrons.
The Heirloom Shop has many wonderful finds throughout its sleek and spacious
historic location. From Heisey glass to Roseville pottery or Victorian chairs, the
Heirloom Shop has antiques to quench the thirst of any collector. Furniture is their
specialty, which currently includes a Tiger Oak dining room table, chairs and buffet
residing beside unique desks and a vintage pie safe.
After many hours of
hard work and treasure digging, The Heirloom Shop held its grand re-opening last
May. Be sure to stop in and relive the past. Store hours are 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
